| AN INVITATION TO MEMBERSHIP AT ANTHOLOGY FILM ARCHIVES |
|
Started in 1970, Anthology Film Archives is internationally renowned for its programs dedicated to independent and avant-garde film and video. It hosts a full program of classic and contemporary cinema retrospectives and new works by major independent filmmakers, premieres and special screenings of features and documentaries in two theaters at the landmark Second Avenue Courthouse in Manhattan's Lower East Side. The Archives' climate-controlled vaults store and preserve thousands of films, many of which would not exist today had they not been rescued by Anthology. For 25 years, Anthology has been tracking down prints, restoring, and repairing damaged or disintegrating negatives, urging film-makers to deposit their original materials, and has saved hundreds of films from being thrown into dumpsters by bankrupt film labs. Anthology's library houses one of the world's largest collections of paper materials documenting the history and theory of cinema-books, rare and out-of-print periodicals, manuscripts, stills, posters, recordings of lectures and interviews, and publications of its own. Membership in Anthology Film Archives provides individuals and corporations with the opportunity to directly assist our preservation, library, and exhibition programs. Because Anthology is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, contributing memberships are tax deductible. Our funders include individuals, the National Endowment for the Arts, American Film Institute, N.Y.S.C.A., NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, corporations and foundations. |

| "Anthology Film Archives is one of the few places that concentrates on this aspect of film history... it's so crucial, we should all do our best to support Anthology." (Martin Scorsese) |
