25th NEW YORK ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL

July 16 – July 18

The 25th New York Asian Film Festival marks 25 years of finding films, taking undue risks, and making an audience for them. Founded in response to the closure of the Music Palace, Chinatown’s last Chinese-language cinema, NYAFF began in 2002 at Anthology Film Archives with twelve features from five countries. Across a quarter century, the festival has presented more premieres than we’d care to count, and introduced major Asian auteurs and genre filmmakers to New York audiences…often years ahead of their mainstream American following.

After years of expansion, the festival returns to Anthology, its first home, the place where it cut its teeth. At Anthology, Asian cinema came to play unapologetically, and New York audiences responded with great enthusiasm.

Join us at Anthology, July 16-18, 2026, for a special blast-from-the-past anniversary series featuring five old school classics, and an in-person discussion with Hong Kong comedy legend Pang Ho-cheung.
